COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Richmond swimming & diving finished off the 2010 Terrain Cup Saturday night, taking fifth place overall against the competitive eight-team field at the University of Maryland. Lauren Hines and Jessie Krebs highlighted the final night for the Spiders.
Hines, who already owns the Atlantic 10's fastest time this season in the event, picked up a fourth-place finish in the 100 free in a time of 51.63. Hines also posted a 10th-place finish in the 200 back (2:05.12).
Jessie Krebs capped her strong weekend by placing fifth in the 1,650 free and putting down the A-10's fastest time of the season of 16:50.79 - that time is 35 seconds faster the league's previous best this year. Alexi Kuska was 11th (17:14.20).
In the 200 back, Nicole LePere improved on her time that already leads the A-10 as she finished sixth in a time of 2:02.44.
The same held true for Mali Kobelja in the 200 breast, as she took 10th and improved her already-league-leading time to 2:21.12.
Richmond's 400 free relay of Kobelja, Charlotte Brackett, Hines and Mina Vucic brought the Spiders' impressive weekend to a close by grabbing fourth-place in a time of 3:29.78.
With 345.5 points, Richmond was fifth overall. Maryland, Villanova, Connecticut and Towson occupied the top four spots.
The Terrapin Cup concludes the early portion of Richmond's 2010-11 schedule. The Spiders are back in action Jan. 22 at Virginia Tech.
