UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The Richmond men's tennis team (11-12) enters this week's Atlantic 10 Tournament as the No. 8 seed and will square off against No. 9 Dayton in the first match set for 8 a.m. Friday, April 16th at the Club 4 Life in Monroeville, Pa.
Richmond enters the A-10 Tournament having won four of its last five matches. All four of the matches have been won by a dominating 7-0 score. The Spiders will look for leadership in two-time A-10 Player of the Week Sebastien Fauchet.
The Rochester, N.Y. native has garnered A-10 Player of the Week awards twice this season (3/15, 3/30). Fauchet has picked up many notable wins at No. 1 singles this season, including a victory over #102 Phillipe Oudshoorn of No. 1-ranked Virginia.
Fauchet is undefeated in conference action (4-0) and is 15-5 overall in dual match play at No. 1 singles. Fauchet's record coupled with his two-time A-10 Player of the Week honors figures to make him a contender for A-10 Player of the Year.
"We're excited about the A-10 Championships this weekend.," said head coach Billy Boykin. "Entering the tournament, we've won seven out of our last 11 matches and are very eager for more match play. This event is always exciting and our team has trained hard all-year long in preparation for this tournament. We're going to give it everything we have."
Entering the Tournament:
Richmond comes into the tournament having posted its most wins in a season since 2006. The Spiders won the A-10 Tournament Championship in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. Richmond has won the A-10 crown more than any other school currently in the conference.
Should Richmond advance, it would face top-ranked George Washington on Friday at 2 p.m.
