Field Hockey Dominates St. Francis In Season Opener

Five different Spiders scored as Richmond beat St. Francis, 5-0, in its season opener at Ohio University Saturday.
Reigning A-10 Rookie of the Year Chelsea Davies and Katelin Peterson each had five shots.
Davies was the first Spider to notch a goal when she put through a Catherine Ostoich and Peterson assist 12 minutes into the game.
The Spiders scored 10 minutes later after Natalie Gallo scored unassisted. Freshman Rebecca Barry scored her first collegiate goal three minutes later. Right before the break, Jackie Gyger scored off a Christina Amorose assist.
Liesl Schnuck had the Spiders' only second-half goal at the 54 minute mark. Richmond outshot St. Francis, 25-0, with a 12-0 advantage in corners.
The Spiders continue play tomorrow against Ohio at 1:00 p.m.
