Walker Leads, Spiders Third At Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.VA. -- Daniel Walker set the pace with a dazzling pair of five-under-par rounds of 66 and the Richmond men's golf team is in third-place after Day One of the Marshall Invitational.
Walker, a junior, sits at 10-under par and is the Day One leader -- three strokes clear of Northwestern's Eric Chun and Kentucky's Cody Martin with 18 holes to play on Tuesday at the par-71 Guyan Country Club in Huntington, W.Va.
As a team, Richmond fired a 36-hole total of 280-280=560 (8-under par) on Monday and is in a three-way tie for third with Ohio State and Eastern Kentucky. VCU leads the team standings (555) and Northwestern is second (557).
Senior Brad Miller posted a 139 Monday (70-69) and is tied for 11th, while sophomore Jack Wilkes is T58 (74-73=147).
Two Spiders made their collegiate debuts Monday as freshman Colin McDade fired a 142 (70-72) and is T24, while Danny Pizetoski recovered from an opening-round 78 to shoot 73 in the afternoon session and is T74 (151).
