Men's Basketball 2011-12 Schedule Released

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Coming off a Sweet 16 appearance and Atlantic 10 Championship, Richmond will play 14 games against teams that played in the postseason last season, including eight against 2011 NCAA Tournament teams.
Richmond hosts 2011 NCAA Tournament teams Hampton (Nov. 17), Old Dominion (Dec. 20) and Temple (Jan. 14). The Spiders, who set the school record for wins last year (29), participate in the Cancun Challenge with a match-up with Illinois on Nov. 23 and make a trip to Los Angeles before Christmas to face UCLA. The Spiders also visit VCU (Dec. 10), Bucknell (Dec. 17) and Xavier (Feb. 24).
Richmond, which has played in back-to-back NCAA Tournaments and finished the last two seasons ranked in the Top 25, will play six of its Atlantic 10 conference games on national television, including three games on the ESPN family of networks and three games on the CBS Sports Network.
The Spiders play at Xavier on ESPN2 and at Duquesne on Feb. 4 on ESPNU. Richmond hosts George Washington on Feb. 11 on ESPNU. Richmond plays at Rhode Island and hosts Temple and Massachusetts (Jan. 21) on the CBS Sports Network.
The Spiders open the season on Nov. 11 hosting former University of Virginia coach Jeff Jones and the American Eagles.
