Walker Leads Spider Men's Golf To Second Place Finish

POWELLS POINT, N.C. - The University of Richmond Spiders men's golf team used one of the best rounds in school history to surge up the leader board at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Richmond carded a final round 280 (-8) to finish as the runner-up with a total of 866 (+2). Georgia Southern won the 18-team tournament with a score of 854 (-10). The Spiders' final round score is tied for the fourth-best in school history, while the 54-hole total is tied for the seventh best all-time.
Senior Daniel Walker had the finest day of his career for the Spiders on Tuesday, tying the school record for the lowest 18-hole score with a 65 (-7). Walker moved up six places with his terrific round, ending the tournament in third place with a career-low 54-hole score of 209 (-7) - tying him for the third-best score in school history. The top-10 finish for Walker is his third this fall for the Spiders and the 13th in his career.
Sophomore Colin McDade had a great showing at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate, earning his second top-10 finish of the season. McDade carded rounds of 71-73-71 to tie for eighth place with a career-low total of 215 (-1).
Freshman David Germann continued the strong start to his collegiate career, tying for 23rd place with a personal-best score of 220 (+4). Germann saved his best round for last, carding a 71 (-1) on Tuesday.
Senior Nick Austin tied for 43rd place with a score of 227 (+11), while junior Jack Wilkes finished in a tie for 47th with a total of 228 (+12).
With the conclusion of the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate, the fall portion of the Richmond Spiders men's golf team's season is now over. The Spiders will be back in action on February 18-19 at the Wexford Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
