Spiders Make Charge At Pinehurst Intercollegiate

PINEHURST, N.C. - The University of Richmond Spiders men's golf team made a charge up the leaderboard on Monday at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, carding a second round 310 (+30) to move in to fifth place with a score of 606 (+42).
Old Dominion and VCU share the lead of the 16-team tournament heading in to Tuesday's third and final round with a score of 599 (+35). Richmond's round of 310 (+30) was tied for the second-best round of the day in the field.
On Monday at Pinehurst, senior Daniel Walker made up some ground on the competition, moving in to the top-20 with a second-round score of 77 (+6). Through two rounds, Walkers is tied with classmate Nick Austin for 13th place with a total of 151 (+9).
Austin continued his strong play on Monday for the Spiders, following his first round score of 73 (+2) with a second round 78 (+7).
Freshman David Germann played consistently well again, carding a 77 (+6) to match Walker for the best Richmond round of the day. Heading in to the third and final round on Tuesday, Germann is tied for 18th with a score of 152 (+10).
Sophomore Colin McDade is tied for 23rd with a total of 153 (+11), while freshman John David Sanderson finds himself in a tie for 46th with a score of 158 (+16). Playing as an individual, sophomore Austin Romeo is tied for 85th with a total of 167 (+25)
The Richmond Spiders will finish up play at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate on Tuesday when the team will play the third and final round.
