
St. Bonaventure Holds Off Men's Basketball

OLEAN, N.Y. - Senior Cedrick Lindsay scored 27 points, but the Spiders lost their Atlantic 10 opener at St. Bonaventure 84-70 Wednesday night at the Reilly Center.
St. Bonaventure (11-4, 1-0 Atlantic 10) opened up a 13-point halftime lead, but the Spiders opened the second half on an 18-3 run to take a 45-43 lead with 14:55 remaiining.
The game remained back-and-forth for the next seven minutes and was tied for the 10th time at 57-57 with 8:45 to play, but the Bonnies would pull away down the stretch.
"We opened the second half in big way," Richmond head coach Chris Mooney said. "We had a lot of energy and I thought our defense really changed the game for us. Unfortunately we weren't able to sustain that because we had too much of a deficit at halftime."
Lindsay made 10-of-17 field goals and 3-of-6 three-pointers as he scored 20 or more points for thei 13th time in his career.
Junior Kendall Anthony scored 12 points and sophomore Trey Davis just missed a double-double with eight points and a career-high 14 rebounds.
Senior Derrick Williams scored eight points and sophomore Alonzo Nelson-Ododa had six. Sophomore Terry Allen had five points and four rebounds.
Matthew Wright led St. Bonaventure with 20 points and Youssou Ndoye had 19 points and 11 rebounds.
The Spiders (10-6, 0-1 Atlantic 10) head to New York City to play at Fordham on Saturday at 7 p.m. in a game televised on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic Plus and SNY.
