Barry, Cooke Earn NFHCA First-Team All-Region Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Senior Rebecca Barry and junior Amy Cooke of the Richmond field hockey team earned Longstreth NFHCA First-Team All-Region honors, announced Monday morning by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
“The South region is loaded with elite players and to be counted among the best is outstanding and deserving for Amy and Rebecca,“ commented Richmond head coach Gina Lucido.
Barry led the Spiders to their eighth Atlantic 10 Championship as she was named the 2014 A-10 Offensive Player of the Year to earn the First-Team All-Region honors for the third-straight season. The Limerick, Ireland native finished the season with with a team-high 15 goals, four assists and 64 points.
Cooke was a standout on defense in her third season as a Spider. The Ballyclare, Northern Ireland native helped Richmond to eight shutouts and limiting its opponents to just 1.5 goals per game to be placed on the all-region squad for her second-straight year. Cooke also picked up three goals, five assists and 11 points this season.
The Spiders finished the 2014 season 12-10 overall and 6-2 in the A-10, bringing home their eighth A-10 Championship in program history and making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
