
Women's Basketball Rolls Past Eastern Kentucky On The Road

RICHMOND, Ky. – Sophomore Janelle Hubbard's 20 points led the Richmond women's basketball team over the Eastern Kentucky Colonels, 70-56, Sunday afternoon at Paul S. McBrayer Arena.
The win improved Richmond to 6-4 on the season with its third-straight victory, while EKU fell to 5-5 overall.
In addition to Hubbard, Richmond had two other Spiders in double figures. Redshirt-senior Genevieve Okoro and junior Lauren Tolson both tallied 14 points in the victory. Senior Liz Brown led the team with a game-high nine rebounds.
Okoro added three steals, four assists and a block to her double-figure points.
Overall, Richmond shot 51 percent for the field and 77.8 percent from the charity stripe, while holding the Colonels to 31.9 percent shooting and just 53.3 percent from the free throw line.
The Spiders were ahead the entire contest and led by as many as 24 which came at the 16:16 mark.
Richmond got off to another hot start as they shot 53.6 percent from the field and also connected on 6-of-13 three-pointers in the first 20 minutes to go into the break with the 42-26 lead. Richmond led by as many as 19, which came at the 4:22 mark as it held EKU to just 34.3 percent shooting in the first half.
Hubbard led the floor with 14 points with the help of 100 percent from behind the arc (3-for-3) in the first 20 minutes, while Healy brought down six rebounds in 12 minutes played.
Richmond will enjoy a seven-day Christmas break before continuing on the road to William & Mary Sunday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m.
