Richmond's Second-Half Rally Falls Short At Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio – Richmond's gritty, second-half comeback came up short in a 60-48 loss at Dayton Saturday night in the regular-season finale.
The Spiders finish the regular season at 18-13 overall and 8-8 in the Atlantic 10. Richmond will be the No. 7 seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament and play No. 10 seed Duquesne on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Junior Kendall Anthony scored a game-high 20 points for his 16th-career 20-point game, including his seventh in the last 10 games.
Sophomore Terry Allen scored 17 points, making 8-of-16 field goals and grabbing five rebounds. Freshman ShawnDre' Jones scored six points, making a pair of three-pointers.
Playing less than 48 hours after a 56-50 loss to VCU, the Spiders trailed 34-19 at the half. Allen scored 13 of his 17 points after the break to lead the comeback that closed the gap to eight with four minutes to play. Dayton (22-9, 10-6 Atlantic 10) was able to hold the Spiders off down the stretch.
The Spiders defense was solid again Saturday, holding the Flyers to just 26 second-half points. Richmond held the opposition to 64 points or less in 16 of the 31 regular season games.
