Former Spider Darrius Garrett Signs With Italian Team

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Former University of Richmond Spiders men's basketball standout Darrius Garrett has signed a contract with Vanoli Cremona in the Italian Serie A – the top Italian basketball league.
A three-year professional overseas, Garrett played last season with Nea Kifisia in the Greek A1 League, where he averaged 6.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks a game.
The previous season, Garrett was named Eurobasket.com All-Swiss Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 7.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocks for Fribourg Olympic in the Swiss League.
For the Spiders, Garrett was one of the best defensive players to ever play at Richmond. During his senior campaign, Garrett became UR's all-time leading shot blocker (231), earning 2012 Atlantic 10 All-Defensive Team honors.
