Former Spiders Bucknor, Dobbins Sign Overseas

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Former University of Richmond Spiders men's basketball standouts Jermaine Bucknor and Tony Dobbins have signed professional contracts to continue playing overseas.
Bucknor resigned with TBB Trier of the Basketball Bundesliga in Germany for two more seasons, while Dobbins inked a deal with Strasbourg IG of the French Pro League A.
Bucknor, who played for Richmond from 2002-06, averaged 9.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 27 BBL games last season for TBB Trier. Four years ago, Bucknor represented Canada at the World Championships in Turkey, averaging 4.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in five games played.
A nine-year veteran, Bucknor has played professionally in Germany, Argentina, France and Poland. As a Spider, Bucknor averaged 8.0 points and 3.9 rebounds for his career. During his senior season, Bucknor poured in 13.5 points a contest while grabbing 4.3 rebounds.
An 11-year veteran of professional basketball, Dobbins will continue his distinguished career overseas with Strasbourg IG in 2014-15. Last season with Dijon in the French Pro League A, Dobbins averaged 10.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.4 steals a game, earning Eurobasket.com All-French Pro A Defensive Player of the Year honors for the third time. Dobbins was also named to the league's All-Star Game.
In his 11 seasons, Dobbins has been successful at every stop – Greece, Turkey, Italy and the USBL in the United States. In his three seasons as a Spider, Dobbins averaged 10.6 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals a game.
