Richmond Moves Up In National Polls
With its impressive win over Hampton, the Spiders moved up to No. 17 in the latest Sports Network Poll released on Monday – up one spot from the previous week. In the FCS Coaches Poll, Richmond jumped three spots to No. 18 after being ranked No. 21 in the preseason poll. Under head coach Danny Rocco, the Spiders have been ranked 14 of the past 19 weeks.
Spiders Rank Highly In National Statistics
Entering the week, Richmond ranks very highly in the national statistics. The Spiders lead the nation in third down conversions (66 percent) and fourth down conversions (100 percent). UR ranks second in the country in total offense (530.0), third in passing offense (354.0) and seventh in first downs (76).
Richmond Against Ranked Opponents
The Richmond Spiders come in to Saturday's game against New Hampshire having won three of its last five games against ranked opponents. Richmond defeated a pair of ranked opponents last year to end the season (No. 19 William & Mary, No. 21 Delaware) and beat No. 2 James Madison on October 20, 2012 at Robins Stadium. Dating back to the 2007 season, Richmond is 23-19 against ranked opponents.
Green Breaks Out Against Hampton
RB Jacobi Green broke out in a big way in Richmond's 42-17 win over Hampton on September 13. The junior ran for a game-high 125 yards on 14 carries, including a pair of touchdowns. The 100-yard rushing game was the second in the Jacksonville, Fla. native's career.
