Richmond Men's Tennis Completes Play at Atlantic Regionals

BLACKSBURG, Va.- The Richmond men's tennis team completed action in the Atlantic Regional Championships hosted by Virginia Tech October 15th-19th.
Singles matches saw the Spiders collect five wins in early round action. Alexandre Felisa knocked off Dan Wright of Bucknell (6-1, 7-6 (4)) and Renier Moolman of Saint Joseph's (6-3, 7-6 (6)) before falling to Matt Barry of Penn State (6-1, 6-0).
Caleb Troy topped Mateo DeSomocurcio of Mount St Mary's (6-3, 6-4) before exiting in the next round to Luca Corinteli of UVA (6-3, 6-0). James Aronson defeated Elliot Loubatie of UMBC (7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-1) in his first match before bowing to Henrik Weirsholm of UVa (6-1, 6-1).
John Quenard (6-4, 6-4) over Alex Poynter of Liberty and Canyon Teague (7-5, 2-6, 6-2) over Zvonoimir Podvinski of ODU also collected first-round wins before falling to their next opponents.
Bryce Polander battled in his first round match before falling in straight sets to Sebastian Salinas of JMU (7-6, 6-4).
In doubles action, Richmond faced opponents from Radford, Virginia Tech, VCU and ODU. The team of Troy and Polander defeated Radford (8-2) before bowing to the Hokies (8-3). Teague and Quenard fell to VCU (8-2) and Felisa and Aronson were defeated by ODU (8-5).
Richmond will close its' fall season at the UNC-Wilmington fall invite October 30th-November 1st.
