Spiders Fall In 10 Innings To Holy Cross, 3-1

ALLENDALE, S.C. – The University of Richmond Spiders fell in 10 innings to the Holy Cross Crusaders, 3-1, in game one of a doubleheader at the USC-Salkehatchie Athletic Complex in Allendale, S.C. on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, Richmond falls to 1-3 on the season, while Holy Cross improves to 1-4 on the year.
LHP Zak Sterling had a great start for the Spiders, tossing a strong seven innings while not figuring in the decision. The senior allowed just one run on four hits, while striking out a pair. RHP Dan Martinson (0-1) took the hard-luck loss for the Spiders, pitching three innings and allowing a pair of runs.
Offensively, Richmond was led by sophomore DH Kurtis Brown, who had three of the team's five hits. 3B Matt Dacey had a RBI single in the first inning that gave the Spiders the early lead, while OF Michael Morman singled and scored for the Spiders.
The Richmond Spiders baseball team will be back in action on Wednesday, February 25 when the team will play host to the Norfolk State Spartans. First pitch at Shepherd Stadium in Colonial Heights, Va. is scheduled for 7 p.m.
