Spider Baseball Beats William & Mary, 4-2

COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team defeated the William & Mary Tribe, 4-2, at Shepherd Stadium in Colonial Heights, Va. on Tuesday afternoon.
With the victory, Richmond improves to 10-8 on the season overall, while William & Mary falls to 10-10 on the year.
“Today was a good win,” Richmond head coach Tracy Woodson said. “We had some great pitching and we did a good job of answering them every time they tried to cut in to the lead.”
Freshman C Brandon Johnson had a two-run home run to lead the Spider offense on Tuesday, while 3B Matt Dacey had a pair of hits, including a RBI double. Freshman Daniel Brumbaugh also had a RBI double, while OF Michael Morman went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
On the mound, freshman RHP Justin Garcia pitched well in four innings, allowing just one run on two hits. Classmate RHP Brendan McGuigan (1-0) earned his first career victory, tossing four innings of relief. Senior RHP Ray Harron notched his second save of the season.
