Richmond Baseball Falls To Rhode Island, 7-2

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond Spiders baseball team dropped the first game of its three-game series with Rhode Island on Friday afternoon, 7-2, at Pitt Field.
With the loss, Richmond falls to 19-12 on the season overall and to 8-2 in Atlantic 10 play. Rhode Island improves to 14-13-1 on the year and to 7-3 in league action.
1B Doug Kraeger led the offense for the Spiders, hitting a two-run home run. OF Tanner Stanley had a pair of hits, including a double, while SS Tyler Beckwith also had a two-base hit.
On the mound, RHP Ryan Cook (5-2) took the loss for Richmond, allowing five runs with only one being earned. Cook struck out six batters over six innings of work.
The Richmond Spiders will continue their three-game, Atlantic 10 series with Rhode Island on Saturday at Pitt Field. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
