Women's Tennis Falls In Rain-Shortened Match At JMU
04/08/2015 | Women's Tennis
HARRISONBURG, Va. - Trying to get ahead of the rain, Tuesday's Richmond at JMU women's tennis match began with singles competition,as the teams opted to start with singles instead of the usual doubles format in an effort to get a result. The Spiders came up short, 4-0, in a match abbreviated by showers, which included a 14-minute rain delay. The remaining singles matches were left unfinished and doubles matches were not played.
Anna Abadias Morales (#1) and Brittany Boys (#4) were still battling in third sets when play was suspended.
"We knew the last stretch of matches before A-10's would be tough," said coach Mark Wesselink. "We wanted that and it is definitely making us stronger."
Richmond falls to 11-5, while James Madison improved to 12-6.
The Spider women's team will face Liberty at home for Senior Day Thursday April 9 at 2:30pm.
