Ryan Cook Signs Free Agent Deal With Toronto Blue Jays

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Former University of Richmond Spider RHP Ryan Cook signed a free agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays this past weekend.
With his signing, Cook is the third player this offseason to draw the attention of Major League Baseball teams. Junior 3B Matt Dacey and junior OF Tanner Stanley were both selected in the 2015 MLB Draft last week, with Dacey going to the Tampa Bay Rays in the 21st round and Stanley going to the Kansas City Royals in the 36th.
A Second-Team All-Atlantic 10 selection and First-Team All-East Region honoree, Cook went 8-2 on the year, tying for second place in the league in wins. Cook's 78 strikeouts were the fourth-most in the conference, while the Virginia Beach, Va. native also finished fourth in the A-10 in opponent batting average (.217), fourth in ERA (2.80) and 10th in innings pitched (86.2).
For his career, Cook posted a 15-10 record overall with a 4.34 ERA and eight saves. The Virginia Beach, Va. native struck out 208 batters in 221.2 innings pitched.
