Freshman Bella Kuse was only able to compete in doubles due to an injury but she made the most of it teaming with Katya Salas in the top flight to defeat UNCG's Anane and Swiderski 8-3 and battling Emory's Fuhr and Satterfield 5-8.
Coach Wesselink was especially impressed with freshman Ana Ramirez' level of play for her first college competition and the team's ability to prepare and battle through some early season injuries.
"Ana looked very seasoned for a first-year. She is going to be an impact player,” head coach Mark Wesselink said. "We have some solid leadership with our three seniors Katya Salas, Emily Gitman and Anna Abadias. We're looking forward to Anna and Emily getting healthy and contributing on the court as well."
The Spiders next competition is at UMBC and will take on Villanova, Delaware and UMBC at the event, September 25-26.
