2016 Fred Hardy Invitational Comes To A Close

RICHMOND, Va. – Day two of the 2016 Fred Hardy Invitational came to a close on Saturday with three field events and nine field events for the men and women taking place. The University of Richmond took first place in the 4 x 800 meter relay race and the 3,000 meter race.
The 4 x 800 meter relay team that took first place consisted of Sarah Hipwell, Stephanie Hughes, Marisa Ruskan and Haley Preschutti. The team finished with a time of 9:19.93.
The 3000 meter race saw Shelby Cain take first place, she finished first out of 10 competitors with a time of 10:09.69. Freshman Colleen Carney finished in third place, crossing the line in 10:27.04.
In the long jump, senior Janel Francis finished in third, recording a 5.71 meter jump. The 400-meter race saw senior Jade Gregory finish second among collegiate runners with a time of 55.89. Finishing in fifth was fellow Spider Mary Allen in 56.98 seconds.
In the 800-meter run, the Spiders finished second and third out of 26 competitors with Stephanie Hughes (2:14.80) and Sarah Hipwell (2:16.87).
Day two of the meet also saw the University of Richmond recognize the graduation senior of the men's and women's track and field and cross country programs. The women's track and field and cross country recognized six seniors in Kelly Bailey, Kelly Bonaventura, Taylor Clevinger, Janel Francis, Jade Gregory and Tara Hanley. The men's cross country program recognized three graduating seniors in Jordan Chavez, Tim Gruber and Matt McKenna.
