UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – With the Atlantic 10 Tournament less than two weeks away, the University of Richmond men's tennis is catching fire at just the right time.
Leading the way for the Spiders, who had won seven straight entering Tuesday's match against Georgetown, has been junior Jacob Dunbar. This past week, Dunbar powered his way to a 2-0 record in both singles and doubles to lead Richmond to Atlantic 10 victories over George Mason and Saint Joseph's.
“Jacob's one of those guys that really sets the tone for us. When he's playing well, it really puts us in a good position and you can tell based on our success and his success over the past few weeks,” Head Coach Ben Johnson said.
The two-time Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team honoree has won eight straight singles victories and six straight doubles matches after his two victories this past week.
On the season, Dunbar is now 15-6 on the year and now has 70 career singles victories, which sits as the second-highest total in school history.
Dunbar and the Spiders are back in action this weekend when they host Atlantic 10 foe Duquesne on Friday, April 8. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
