UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Following one of the most successful seasons in program history, University of Richmond men's tennis first-year head coach Houston Barrick has announced the Spiders' spring schedule for the 2018 season.
Richmond starts the season with a bang, traveling down the road to Charlottesville where it will face reigning NCAA Champion Virginia on January 20. The Cavaliers have won three-straight national titles and four in the last five years.
After traveling to face Liberty on January 26, the Spiders will return to Richmond, where they will face Dayton at the VCU Bubble on January 27. The Squad will then travel to face William & Mary (February 1), before making a trip to Annapolis to take on Bryant (February 3) and Navy (February 4).
The team's lone double-header of the year will take place in Blacksburg, where the Spiders will face Virginia Tech and St. Bonaventure on February 10. Richmond will then play host to James Madison on February 16 at the Salisbury Country Club, before heading to Norfolk for a matchup with Old Dominion on February 18.
A trip out west is in store for the team to wrap up a long road stint, as the team will travel to Colorado Springs to face Air Force (February 23) and UC Riverside (February 24).
The Spiders return home for a four-match home slate at the recently renovated Westhampton Tennis Complex. Richmond will host Howard (March 9) and East Carolina (March 18), as well as A-10 foes Saint Joseph's (March 23) and Duquesne (March 30).
Richmond hits the road again for an April 5 matchup at George Mason, before returning home to host George Washington on April 7. The team will then face UConn in a neutral site match in Greensville, North Carolina, on April 14.
The final home match of the season is set for April 15 against Villanova, and the Spiders will wrap up regular-season play on April 22 at Davidson.
The 2018 Atlantic 10 Championship will be held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, for the second-straight year. The tournament will run from April 26-29.
