Spiders Drop A-10 Matchup At La Salle

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The University of Richmond field hockey dropped its opening game of a two-game road trip to Philadelphia on Friday afternoon, falling to A-10 foe La Salle, 4-1.

The Explorers opened the scoring in the 18th minute, with a goal from Willow Oh, before Oh doubled the La Salle lead in the 30th minute.

The Spider offense couldn't get things going after the break, as La Salle scored their third goal of the game just over six minutes into the second half.

With just under 20 minutes to play, Abra Granger put the Spiders on the board with a goal off a rebound to make it 3-1. This was Granger's second-straight game with a goal off a rebound from the opposing goalkeeper.

Richmond picked up the offensive pressure after the goal, but the Explorers were able to score once again to take the 4-1 win. La Salle finished the game with a 6-4 advantage in shots and 6-3 edge in penalty corners.

The Spiders remain in Philadelphia and return to action on Sunday, October 14, when they face No. 13 Saint Joseph's. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
