Spiders Host Undefeated Ohio Saturday

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team will welcome the undefeated Ohio Bobcats to the Robins Center on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m.
The Spiders are looking for their third-straight home victory before a seven-day holiday break.
LAST TIME OUT
The University of Richmond women's basketball team fell to 2-8 on the season after a road loss at Quinnipiac, 65-48, on Dec. 19. The Spiders got off to a slow start only scoring 11 points in two quarters. Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke finished with 10 points off the bench. Freshman Molly Mraz scored a career-high nine points, all scored in the fourth quarter, off three triples. Junior Amy Duggan pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds, including 12 on the defensive end.
Richmond played a much better second half scoring 19 points in the third quarter and 18 in the fourth. The Spiders only shot 24 percent (6-for-25) from the three-point line.
Richmond did shoot a solid 76.9 percent from the free throw line off 10-for-13.
TWO-STRAIGHT HOME WINS
The Spiders have won their last two home games defeating Maryland Eastern Shore 57-55 on Nov. 14 and a comeback win against Howard 67-60 on Dec. 8. Richmond scored a season-high 67 points against the Bison and rallied behind a strong fourth quarter outscoring Howard 25-13, including a 9-0 run to end the game.
DUGGAN GRABS CAREER-HIGH 14 REBOUNDS
Junior forward Amy Duggan pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds in a road loss at Quinnipiac on Dec. 19. Duggan leads the team in rebounding at 5.6 boards per game. Her 14 rebounds against Quinnipiac was the most since a 12-rebound effort at Columbia last season. This was her second double-digit rebound effort after grabbing 10 rebounds against Maryland Eastern Shore on Nov. 14.
MRAZ ADDS SPARK IN FOURTH QUARTER AT QUINNIPIAC
Freshman Molly Mraz scored a career-high nine points, all in the fourth quarter, in a road loss at Quinnipiac. Mraz finished the game 3-for-4 from the three-point line, including back-to-back triples in the fourth quarter. Her nine points was the second leading scorer for the Spiders and had two steals in 17 minutes.
FIRST MEETING VS. OHIO
This will mark the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The Bobcats are off to a fast start coming in undefeated at 9-0 on the season. They are averaging 83.3 points per game and take 25 three-pointers per game. They have won every game this season but double digits except for two games against Purdue (80-73) and IUPUI (73-66). Ohio has five players who are averaging double-figures in Cece Hooks (17.3), Gabby Burris (14.6), Amani Burke (12.7) Erica Johnson (11.6) and Dominique Doseck (10.8).
