Spiders in Second After Two Days of Action at the A-10 Championship

GENEVA, Ohio – After two days of competition in the 2018 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship, the Spiders are in second place.Â

In a fast and close 500 free final, senior Annie Lane (4:52.16) and junior Nicole Piercy (4:53.62) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Junior Morgan Soulia placed fourth in the 200 IM clocking a time of 2:01.90 with senior Hannah Verrette finishing at 2:04.11 for eighth place. In the consol finals, freshman Ellie Ronan (2:04.96) finished in fourth to place 12th overall while sophomore Lexie Gilbert (2:05.71) placed 14th. Â

Freshman Jordan Kohut and sophomore Virginia Marsh turned in times of 23.38 and 23.49, respectively, to rank in the top-10 all-time. Kohut took second in the consol final and 10th overall while Marsh was 12th and Hannah Gouger (23.61) was 14th.

Senior Laura Rokop placed seventh in the 1-meter event with a score of 241.70. In the consol finals of the event, sophomore Maddy Chao and freshman Alex Beran tied for 11th with a score of 226.30. Sophomore Sydney Weiskopf (220.40) placed 15th overall.

The 200 free relay team of freshman Mallory Shake, Marsh, Kohut, and Gouger touched the wall at 1:33.02 to take fourth.Â

Prelim Highlights

Prelim Highlights
- Senior Annie Lane registered the fastest time in the 500 free prelims with a time of 4:53.31. Junior Nicole Piercy (4:55.21) also secured a spot in the finals.
- Junior Morgan Soulia clocked a 2:01.20, an NCAA B-cut time, to advance to the finals in the 200IM. Senior Hannah Verrette touched at 2:04.54 to also advance to the finals in the event.
- In the consol finals of the 200 IM, sophomore Lexie Gilbert (2:05.68) and freshman Ellie Ronan (2:06.85) secured spots.
- Sophomore Hannah Gouger clocked a 23.50 in the 50 free which was the fastest time by a Spider. Classmate Virginia Marsh (23.52) and freshman Jordan Kohut (23.61) also posted times to allow them to advance
- In the 1-meter diving prelim round, senior Laura Rokop registered a 239.70 to finish sixth overall to advance to the A-final. Sophomore Maddy Chao and freshman Alex Beran (228.50) placed 10th and 11th, respectively, with Sydney Weiskopf (224.80) finishing 13th to advance to the B-finals. Freshman Natalie Hawley finished 26th overall with a score of 167.80.
