Matt Grace Signs With Spiders

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. --Â Matt Grace from Ontario's TRC Academy has signed with Richmond and will join the Spiders for the 2018-19 season. Grace will be the fourth true freshman on the Spiders roster next year, joining Souleymane Koureissi of New Rochelle, N.Y., Andre Gustavson of Helsinki, Finland, and Jake Wojcik of San Jose, Ca. Grace is the fourth Spider signee in the last month, joining Wojcik, Gustavson, and Wagner transfer and All-NEC performer Blake Francis, who signed with Richmond on April 10.

As a senior this past season, Grace helped lead TRC Academy to a championship in the Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association, averaging 10 points and seven rebounds over three games in the conference tournament. Grace is expected to add frontcourt depth to a Richmond team that returns one player taller than 6'8": All-Conference forward Grant Golden, who set the program's freshman scoring record last season.

Grace will be the second Canadian on the Spiders roster. Rising sophomore Nate Cayo is a graduate of Montreal's College Jean De Brebeuf. Two other players from Canada have played for the Spiders under Chris Mooney. Jermaine Bucknor prepped in Edmonton before becoming a Spider and Francis-Cedric Martel played his high school basketball in Montreal.
