Former Spiders T.J. Cline and Justin Harper To Play In NBA Summer League

Cline added to Milwaukee Bucks roster, Harper joins New York Knicks
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- A pair of former Spiders will be on the court when the NBA Summer League opens this week. T.J. Cline, the 2017 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, will play for the Milwaukee Bucks and Justin Harper, a three-year NBA veteran, has joined the New York Knicks.
Cline played for Hapoel Halon of the Israeli Premier League and Turkey's Galatasary during the 2017-18 season. He helped to lead Hapoel Halon to the league's State Cup in February. In three seasons with the Spiders from 2014-17, Cline totaled 1,647 points, the eighth-highest total in program history, and earned All-American honors in 2017 after averaging 18.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.6 assists as a senior.
Harper spent the past season playing for ASVEL Basket in the French Pro A League, the top division in France. Since being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the 32nd pick in 2011 NBA Draft, Harper has appeared in NBA games with the Magic, Pistons, and 76ers and has twice been named an All-Star in the NBA's D-League. His last NBA experience came with the 76ers, when he appeared in three games at the end of the 2016-17 season. Harper played for the Spiders from 2007-11. As a senior, he helped to lead Richmond to the Sweet 16 and earned Lute Olson All-American honors while also being named First Team All-Atlantic 10.
Cline and Harper are two of the 20 Spiders who have gone on to play professional basketball in Chris Mooney's 13 seasons as head coach. At least one player from 11 of Mooney's 13 graduating classes has played at the professional level.
The NBA Summer League begins Monday, July 2 with games in Utah and Sacramento. Cline and the Bucks open play Friday, July 6 against the Detroit Pistons (7 PM ET, NBATV) and Harper and the Knicks open their Summer League schedule Saturday, July 7 against the Hawks (5:30 PM ET, ESPN).
