Swim and Dive Returns to the Pool at Villanova

VILLANOVA, Pa. – After a month and a half hiatus, the Spider swim and dive team returned to action Saturday afternoon against the Villanova Wildcats at Villanova. The Spiders had last competed on November 30th, a dual meet at George Washington before the end of the fall semester and winter break. The Spiders came out on the short end of a 181-115 score, falling in today's dual meet with the Wildcats.
Three Spiders earned individual wins in events. Maggie Purcell (Southampton, N.Y.) earned a pair of first place finishes. She recorded a 1:04.87 time in the 100-yard breaststroke to earn the win, and recorded a 2:19.66 time for first in the 200-yard breaststroke. Eliza Manning (Frederick County, Md.) edged out a win in the 50-yard freestyle, recording a time of 24.07, with the second-place finisher right behind her at 24.09. Nicole Piercy (Newport News, Va.) added to the first-place finishers, earning a time of 4:31.57 to take the 400-yard individual medley race.
A pair of relay teams finished as the top two teams in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Hannah Gouger (Cockeysville, Md.), Mallory Shake (Lexington, Ky.), Manning and Kristine Mihm (Wexford, Pa.) turned in a time of 1:37.54, while the team of Purcell, Ellie Ronan (Marblehead, Mass.), Lauren Wallace (Charlotte, N.C.) and Morgan Soulia (Wexford, Pa.) finished at 1:39.93 for first and second, respectively.
