Richmond Looks To Start Winning Streak At La Salle

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team is hoping to build off its one-point win against Saint Joseph's in a road matchup against La Salle on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. at Tom Gola Arena.
CARPENTER CONTINUES TO PRODUCE FOR THE SPIDERS
Freshman guard Aniyah Carpenter has scored in double-figures four times in six Atlantic 10 conference games. Carpenter finished with 12 points at Duquesne (Jan. 19) and tied her career-high with 14 points against VCU on Jan. 12. Carpenter is averaging 11.2 points per game during conference play and is shooting 38.7 percent from the field (24- for-62). Carpenter also has hit a three-point in five of six conference games shooting 41.7 percent from deep off 10-for-24.
HINDS-CLARKE ADDS ANOTHER DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke posted her fourth double-double of the season after scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds against Saint Joseph's on Jan. 23. Hinds-Clarke now has five career double-doubles and is 10th in the Atlantic 10 in rebounds per game at 6.5 per game. In her six A-10 games, Hinds-Clarke is fourth with 52 total rebounds. She is tied for third in offensive rebounds at 19 just one behind the leader with 20.
LAST MEETING VS. LA SALLE
This will be the 27th meeting between the two teams with Richmond holding a 19-7 record. The Spiders won both matchups last season, including their most recent on Feb. 10, 2018, a 60-57 win on the road in Philadelphia. Richmond earned the comeback win outscoring La Salle 16-10 in the fourth quarter. Alex Parson led the team with 18 points and grabbed six rebounds. Her sister Micaela added 16 points and four rebounds.
LAST TIME OUT
The University of Richmond women's basketball team improved to 4-15 and 1-5 in Atlantic 10 play with a 46-45 victory at the Robins Center on Jan. 23. Junior Amy Duggan hit two clutch free throws with 16 seconds left to lift the Spiders to their first conference win.
Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke secured her fourth double-double of the season and fifth for her career with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Graduate student Daijia Ruffin added 10 points off the bench. Aniyah Carpenter added eight points, including six in the fourth quarter.
Richmond outrebounded Saint Joseph's 41-34 and only had 11 turnovers in the win. The Spiders had a tough shooting night from the three-point line going 1-for-17. Richmond held the Hawks to four points in the fourth quarter to earn the comeback win.
The Spiders are 4-6 at home this season but are still looking for their first road win of the season.
