Richmond Athletics and Westhampton College Celebrate 100 Years of Field Hockey

The University of Richmond Department of Athletics and Westhampton College teamed up this past weekend to recognize 100 Years of Field Hockey, welcoming back over 30 alumnae spanning six generations.

The weekend began with an on-field recognition of the program's 100th team at the Spider Football game on Saturday afternoon, and concluded with Richmond's nonconference matchup with James Madison on Sunday.

Alumnae and friends of the program were invited to a brunch on Sunday morning prior to the game, coming together to recognize the accomplishments of the program over its 100-year span.

Over 100 guests attended the event, which included a welcome from Deputy Director of Athletics for Policy & Sport Programs and Senior Woman Administrator LaRee Sugg and Richmond Field Hockey Head Coach Jamie Montgomery, as well as remarks from Dean of Westhampton College Dr. Mia Reinoso Genoni and Dr. Judy Hopkins W'74. Assistant Athletics Director for Development Jasmonn Coleman '98 rounded out the morning with closing remarks.

The alumnae in attendance were also recognized on the field before the start of the game along with Faculty Athletics Representative Linda Boland and Dean Genoni, who was presented with a commemorative field hockey stick by Vice President and Director of Athletics John Hardt.
