Richmond Hosts Florida Atlantic In Home Opener

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team will host Florida Atlantic in the 2019-20 home opener on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. at the Robins Center.
LAST MEETING VS. FLORIDA ATLANTIC
This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams with Richmond leading the all-time series 2-1. In the previous meeting, the Spiders lost on the road at FAU, 69-55. Richmond fell behind 31-20 at halftime and couldn't make a comeback. Jaide Hinds-Clarke had 10 points and Emma Squires scored 10 points. The Spiders only shot 4-for-25 from downtown and were outrebounded 54-36 on the glass.

FREE THROW SHOOTING TURNING INTO A STRENGTH
The Spiders struggled from the free throw line in 2018-19 only shooting 64.8 percent. Fast forward one season and the Spiders are much improved at 74.5 percent in the first three games, sitting fifth in the Atlantic 10 conference. Richmond has shot 70.0 percent or better in all three games. Junior Alex Parson is 10-for-13 (76.9) and sophomore Kate Klimkiewicz is 9-for-13 (69.2). Sophomore Aniyah Carpenter is 5-for-6 (83.3).
SPIDERS RETURN HOME TO THE ROBINS CENTER
Richmond earned eight of its nine wins last season at the Robins Center and will host Florida Atlantic in the 2019-20 home opener on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. The Spiders are 5-5 in the last 10 home openers at the Robins Center. Richmond has lost three-straight home openers against Georgetown (2018-19), Wake Forest (2017-18) and Columbia (2016-17). The Spiders best home record in the last 10 years came in the 2011-12 season where they went 13-2.
KATE KLIMKIEWICZ EARNS FIRST CAREER START
Sophomore Kate Klimkiewicz, a native of Oakton, Virginia, made her first career start as a Spiders against Georgetown. Klimkiewicz scored 12 points and grabbed three rebounds with a season-high three steals. She also went 3-for-5 from the free throw line in the win. Klimkiewicz is second on the team at 10.0 points per game and second with three three-pointers in three games played.
RICHMOND ADDS FOUR TO ROUSSELL'S FIRST RECRUITING CLASS
First year head coach Aaron Roussell announced his first recruiting class at Richmond added four student-athletes for the 2020 season in forward Addie Budnik (Highland Park, Ill.), forward Maya Ettle (Bethlehem, Pa.), guard Kylee Lewandowski (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Siobhan Ryan (Buffalo, NY.). All four players bring length, size, shooting ability and toughness to the 2020 squad. Budnik is 6-foot-1, Ettle is 6-foot-4, Lewandowski is 6-foot-1 and Ryan is 6-foot.
