Swimming and Diving Finishes Sixth at Patriot Invite

FAIRFAX, Va. – Spider swim and dive wrapped up the Patriot Invitational Saturday evening at the George Mason University Aquatics and Fitness Center. The Spiders finished the nine-team meet in sixth place, recording 372 points. The Drexel Dragons took home the team crown after scoring 850 points.
Saturday's events included the 200-backstroke, the 100-freestyle, the 200-breast, the 200-butterfly and the 400 freestyle relay. Ellie Ronan (Marblehead, Mass.) finished the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.31 time. Senior Hannah Gouger (Cockeysville, Md.) added a third-place finish in her heat, third-place finish overall with a 2:00.75 time in the same event.
In the 100 freestyle, Eliza Manning (Frederick County, Md.) earned a first-place finish in her heat, with a time of 52.92. At 51.79, freshman Lauren Medlin (Cary, N.C.) earned a time of 51.79 in the same event, just .04 off of her season-best time.
Ashley Meyer (Glen Allen, Va.) added a 2:28.82 time in the 200-yard breaststroke event, her season-best time. Jenna Miller added a 2:25.71 time out of the first lane in heat B of the 200 backstroke, and Lexie Gilbert (Annapolis, Md.) added a 2:25.25 finish. Closing out the Spider scoring in this event was sophomore Maggie Purcell (Southampton, N.Y.) who finished with a time of 2:20.01.
Freshman Rachel Pak (Fairfax, Va.) added a 2:11.59 time in the 200-butterfly. Fellow rookie Claire O'Shaughnessy (Laurel, Md.) finished with a time of 2:09.20 in her heat of the same event before moving into the all-time top 10 list with a 2:02.70 time in the finals, good for seventh all-time.
The 400 freestyle relay teams finished with times of 3:31.83 and 3:38.24. The first relay time matched the Spiders best 400 freestyle relay time this season.
Richmond is back in action on December 7th at 10 a.m. in a dual meet at George Washington.
