Spiders Venture To Coastal Carolina Thanksgiving Classic

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team will play in a two-game Thanksgiving Tournament hosted by Coastal Carolina from Friday, Nov. 29 through Sunday, Dec. 1.
COASTAL CAROLINA THANKSGIVING CLASSIC
Richmond travels to Coastal Carolina for the Coastal Carolina Thanksgiving Classic from Nov. 29-Dec. 1 where the Spiders will face Coastal Carolina on Friday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. and finish against Bradley on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 11:30 a.m.
ABOUT COASTAL CAROLINA
Coastal Carolina is 4-0 with wins against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (W, 76-69), UNCG (W, 63-54), at Wofford (W, 78-73) and at Western Carolina (W, 66-43). The Chanticleers have three players averaging double-figures in Zacharyia Esmon (15.5 points per game), Aja Blount (14.0 points per game) and DJ Williams (12.5 points per game).
ABOUT BRADLEY
Bradley Braves are 4-1 on the season, having won three-straight games against Eureka (W, 101-39), at Western Illinois (W, 84-49) and Miami Ohio (W, 79-68). The Braves will face George Mason on Nov. 29. Gabi Haack leads the team in scoring at 16.2 points per game.
RICHMOND LEADS THE ATLANTIC 10 IN STEALS
Richmond has 56 steals in six games, which is 52nd in the nation and leads the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Spiders are averaging 9.3 steals per game and finished with 15 steals in a road loss at Drexel. Junior Alex Parson had a career-high five steals. Senior Jaide Hinds-Clarke added three steals and has 13 total for the season, which leads the A-10. Sophomore Kate Klimkiewicz also had three steals and has 10 in six games.
SPIDERS SHARING THE BASKETBALL
The Spiders are fourth in the Atlantic 10 in assists with 83 in six games, which is 71st nationally. Richmond dished out 16 assists off 20 field goals at Drexel. In the previous game, Richmond had a season-high 20 assists off 27 field goals. In 2018-19, the Spiders only had 51 assists through six games. Three players already have double figure assists in Alex Parson (19), Kate Klimkiewicz (14) and Aniyah Carpenter (12).
