Spiders Welcome UMass For Key A-10 Matchup

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team will host the University of Massachusetts on Sunday, Feb. 3, at Noon inside the Robins Center. The Spiders are riding a two-game winning streak and hope to keep it going against the Minutewomen.
SPIDERS START A-10 WINNING STREAK AT LA SALLE
The Spiders picked up their first road win of the season at La Salle and have won two-straight Atlantic 10 games to improve to 2-5 in conference. Richmond has a chance to move up the standings with a win against UMass on Feb. 3. Richmond set season highs in points (74), assists (20), steals (16) and field goal percentage (47.5).
CARPENTER HITTING HER STRIDE IN A-10 PLAY
Freshman guard Aniyah Carpenter has scored in double-figures four times in seven Atlantic 10 conference games. Carpenter finished with 12 points at Duquesne (Jan. 19) and tied her career-high with 14 points against VCU on Jan. 12. Carpenter is averaging 10.6 points per game during conference play and is shooting 38.6 percent from the field (27-for-70). Carpenter also has hit a three-point in six of seven conference games shooting 40.7 percent from deep off 11-for-27.
HINDS-CLARKE DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE
Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke posted her second-straight double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds against La Salle. Hinds-Clarke now has five double-doubles on the season. She has six career double-doubles and is 9th in the Atlantic 10 in rebounds per game at 6.7 per game. In her seven A-10 games, Hinds-Clarke is third with 63 total rebounds. She is tied for first in offensive rebounds with 23.
RUFFIN HAS BREAKOUT GAME AT LA SALLE
Graduate student Daijia Ruffin earned a start at La Salle and had her best game as a Spider with 20 points and went 8-for-16 from the field. Ruffin played a huge part in snapping Richmond's eight-game road losing streak coming away with five steals and grabbed five rebounds in the victory. Ruffin is averaging 10.6 points per game in her last four conference games.
LAST MEETING VS. UMASS
This will be the 23rd meeting between the two teams with Richmond holding a 19-3 record. The Spiders went 1-1 against UMass last season earning a win on the road 51-39 on Jan. 31 and falling at home 58-49 on Feb. 21. In the previous game, UMass outscored the Spiders 22-12 in the fourth quarter to earn the comeback win. Richmond had a tough shooting night from the three-point line going just 6-for-36. Former Spider Micaela Parson scored a game-high 24 points with seven rebounds. Richmond had won 12-straight meetings before their loss last season on Jan. 31 at the Robins Center.
