Spiders Venture To Saint Louis For National TV Contest

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's basketball team will head back out on the road to face Saint Louis on Sunday, Feb. 17, on NBC Sports Network at 3 p.m. eastern time.
LAST TIME OUT
The University of Richmond women's basketball team earned a wire-to-wire win against St. Bonaventure, 57-49, on Feb. 13. The Spiders improved to 7-17 overall and are 4-7 in the Atlantic 10. With the win, they hold the tiebreaker head-to-head against the Bonnies.
Richmond finished with three players in double figures with sophomore Alex Parson leading the way with 14 points, graduate student Daijia Ruffin had 12 points and junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke added 10 points with nine rebounds.
The Spiders went 11-for-13 from the free throw line (84.6 percent) and sealed the victory going 4-for-4 from the line in the closing minute. Richmond was able to force 19 St. Bonaventure turnovers in the game.
Richmond led by 19 points in the third quarter. The Bonnies made a run in the fourth quarter to get within four points but the Spiders held on for the eight-point win.
HINDS-CLARKE DOUBLE-DOUBLE MACHINE
Junior Jaide Hinds-Clarke saw her double-double streak end at five-straight games after scoring 10 points with nine rebounds against St. Bonaventure. Hinds-Clarke leads the team with eight double-doubles and grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds at VCU on Feb. 9. She has nine career double-doubles and is second in rebounds per game during A-10 play (10.2). Hinds-Clarke is third in offensive rebounds per game during league play at 3.5.
LAST MEETING VS. SAINT LOUIS
This will be the 15th meeting all-time between the two teams with Saint Louis and Richmond tied at 7-7 in the all-time series. Last season, the Billikens pulled away with a 79-61 win at the Robins Center on Jan. 3, 2018. Saint Louis outscored Richmond, 30-13, in the fourth quarter after only leading by one-point after three. Alex Parson (18 points) and Micaela Parson (14 points) were the only two players in double-figures. The Spiders have lost three-straight meetings and haven't won in Saint Louis since 2014.
THE RACE TOWARDS THE NO. 8 SEED
The Spiders are 4-7 in the Atlantic 10 after 11 conference games. Richmond has five games remaining against league opponents but are hoping to host a first-round A-10 Tournament game at the Robins Center (top-eight seeds host). Last season, the Spiders finished 8-8 and finished in eighth place. Richmond still has games against UMass, George Washington and George Mason.
