Ball, Brown Selected to IWLCA Senior All-Star Game; Kwolek To Coach South Squad

University of Richmond women's lacrosse standouts Julie Ball and Marissa Brown have been selected to compete in the IWLCA Division I Senior All-Star Game following impressive performances during the 2019 season.

Spider head coach Allison Kwolek is set to coach the South Team at the event, which will take place on Saturday, June 1, at Tierney Field at the US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

Ball and Brown are two of 44 Division I student-athletes selected to a Senior All-Star roster this season. Five seniors from the Atlantic 10 are set to compete in the game.

Kwolek will coach the South Team at the 2019 IWLCA Senior All-Star Game after leading the Spiders to their second-straight Atlantic 10 Title and trip to the NCAA Tournament. Under Kwolek's leadership, the Spiders finished with a 17-4 overall record in 2019, setting a new record for wins in a season and breaking the single-season marks for points (455) and goals (314).

Ball wrapped up an impressive career by earning her second straight IWLCA All-Region honor earlier this week. The two-time Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year broke into the Richmond record book this season, finishing second all-time in career caused turnovers (117) and fifth in career draw controls (174) to solidify herself as one of the top defenders in program history. A two-time First Team All-Conference selection, Ball currently ranks third in the nation in ground balls per game (3.52) and eighth in caused turnovers per game (2.43).

Brown proved to be a force in the Atlantic 10 in her final season as a Spiders, topping the conference with 89 points on the season to finish second all-time in single-season points at Richmond. The attacker totaled 271 points in her career, also good for second all-time at UR, while breaking the career (142) and single-season (49) marks in assists. A two-time All-Conference honoree, Brown led the Spiders to the A-10 title in 2019 after setting a new A-10 Tournament record with 19 points in three games. She currently ranks eighth in the nation in assists (49), 16th in assists per game (2.33) and 19th in points (89).
