LEWISBURG, Pa. – Spiders freshman Vicky Zhu shot a six-over par 76 in the final round of the Bucknell Invitational Sunday to finish the 54-hole event at 224 (+14), tied for ninth in the field of 61. The result was the first top-10 finish of Zhu's career in just her second collegiate tournament. Over the course of three rounds, Richmond relied on scores from only freshmen and sophomores en route to a sixth-place finish (918, +78) in the nine-team field.
"We're going to have to learn to place the ball better," said Richmond coach Calle Nielson. "But I'm proud of the way Vicky played and it was great to get to play the golf course we're going to playing for a conference championship later this season."
"We learned something different about the course each round," said Nielson of the par-70 layout at Bucknell Golf Club, which will host the Patriot League Championship on April 19-20, 2020.
Playing as an individual in her first event of the season, junior Lizzie Reedy tied for 15th at 17-over par (227).
Richmond will return to the course on September 27-29 when the Spiders compete in the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C.
