Gianforte Collects Second-Straight A-10 Defensive Player of the Week Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Richmond senior goalie Megan Gianforte was named as Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week, the league announced Monday. This is her league-leading eighth time she has been earned the weekly accolade.
The Brielle, N.J. native moved to 2-0 between the pipes for the Spiders with a 16-3 win at Radford Saturday. Gianforte made five saves for the second-straight game while allowing just three goals, all in the first half. She also collected four ground balls in the victory.
The Spiders open their home slate Wednesday, when they host Campbell at Robins Stadium. Opening draw is set for 3 p.m.
