Cross Country Competes at Pre-Nationals at Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – University of Richmond cross country teams were in action at the Pre-National Meet at Apalachee Regional Park, hosted by Florida State University. The men's team finished 10th in the field of 31 teams. The women finished 11th overall. Both were the only Atlantic 10 teams in the field.
The men were the first race of the day, competing in an 8-kilometer race. Spider standout Peter Borger (Malvern, Pa.) led the way for the squad, finishing sixth overall with a time of 24:22.8. Reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie Performer of the Year Stuart Terrill (Crozet,Va.) took 54th at 25:39.7 in his first full race of the season. Noah Campbell (Montpelier, Va.) clocked in at 25:44.4 to take 57th. Jimmy Quinn (Nutley, N.J.) was 82nd at 26:10.6 and was followed shortly after by Sean Doolan (Loudonsville, Ky.) at 26:13.5 for 85th. Robbie Gunia (Fredericksburg, Va.) added a 26:18.3 time for 88th. The next Spiders across the finish were Tanner Crochet (Monmouth, N.J.) and Riley Fletcher (East Northport, Va.) at 26:54.0 and 26:55.8, respectively. Patrick Sutphin (Mechanicsville, Va.) added a 27:02.5 time, Jordan Bendura (Glen Allen, Va.) finished in 27:13.0 with Jake Schindel (Richmond, Va.) wrapping up the Spiders' portion of the race at 27:33.9.
On the women's side, the Spiders were once again led by Elizabeth Stockman (Rocky Hill, Conn.). Stockman took 10th in the 6-kilometer race at 21:28.8. Lily Snow (Richmond, Va.) was the next Spider in, finishing in 28th at 21:56.9. Kate McAndrew (Denville, N.J.) was the next Spider in, finishing in 59th at 22:36.1. Freshman Laurel Kurtz (Flemington, N.J.) turned in an 89th place finish with a time of 23:05.7, followed closely by fellow rookie Izzy Blaylock (Dallas, Texas) at 23:12.2. Kendra Smither (Richmond, Va.) added a 23:20.2 time and Anna George (Montville, N.J.) finished in 23:38.1. Manon Stephen (Basking Ridge, N.J.) finished in 23:45.8 and Lindsay Colflesh (Haddonfield, N.J.) at 25:12.0 to round out the Spider competitors.
The Spiders are back in action in two weeks when they head to Dayton, Ohio for the Atlantic 10 Championships at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course.
