Spiders Receive 13 Votes in AP Preseason Top 25 Poll
10/18/2021 | Men's Basketball
RICHMOND, Va. -- The Richmond Spiders men's basketball team received 13 votes in the Preseason Associated Press Top 25 Men's Basketball Poll, which was released Monday. Richmond's 13 votes were the 34th most among all Division I teams. 2021 is the third year Richmond has been represented in the Preseason AP Top 25, joining 2020 (40 votes) and 2010 (17 votes).Â
The only other Atlantic 10 team represented in the poll is St. Bonaventure, at number 23. Richmond will face the Bonnies on February 4 at the Robins Center and March 4 in Olean, N.Y. Both games will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2 and tip at 7 PM. Other Richmond opponents to appear in the poll are Maryland, ranked 21st, and Drake, which received four votes. Depending on how they fare vs Maryland in the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship, the Spiders will also face either Mississippi State (five votes) or Louisville (three) in November.Â
Richmond was ranked as high as 19th in the AP Top 25 last season and received votes in the poll six times during the 2019-20 season. This is the first time in program history that Richmond has been represented in the AP Poll in three straight seasons.Â
Season-ticket packages, mini plans, and single-game tickets are now on sale for the 2021-22 season. Interested parties can call 1-877-SPIDER1 or visit https://spides.us/mbbtix.Â
