Csensits Scores Against VCU in Friday Night A10 Match Up

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond sophomore Kaitlyn Csensits (Emmaus, Pa.) scored as the final horn sounded to help the Spiders avoid the shutout loss to VCU Friday night at Crenshaw Field. The Rams collected a 3-1 Atlantic 10 Conference victory to move to 5-2 in the league and 11-5 on the year, while the Spiders fell to 4-3 in league action and 5-12 on the season.
Csensits tallied her first collegiate goal off a rebound of Steffie Bonger's (Weert, The Netherlands) shot off a Spider corner play. Csensits also collected a defensive save in the first half, her third of the year.
After a scoreless first half, VCU tallied two goals in the third quarter and one more in the early in the fourth.
Richmond held the advantage in penalty corners, 8-5, over VCU, including four in the first quarter. VCU had 12 shots with seven on goal, while Richmond was only able to get seven shots with four on goal.
Richmond goalkeeper Erika Latta (Midlothian, Va.) made three saves in the contest.
The Spiders wrap up the 2021 regular season Sunday at Georgetown for a 12 p.m. contest at Cooper Field. Richmond has secured their spot in the 2021 Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament, Nov. 5-6, at Ellen Ryan Field on the campus of Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pa. Game time and opponent will be announced at a later time.
