Geiersbach Named to Second-Straight Tewaaraton Award Watch List

WASHINGTON, D.C. – University of Richmond redshirt senior attack Sam Geiersbach has been named to the 2021 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, college lacrosse's highest honor, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced today. This is Geiersbach second-straight season to be recognized for the honor.
The Babylon, N.Y. native currently leads the Atlantic 10 with eight assists and a two assist per game average. Geiersbach leads the Spiders with 15 points, adding seven goals to her eight assists in four games this season, with two free position goals, five ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Geiersbach ranks eighth in points per game among NCAA Division I active career leaders with 4.48 points in 52 games. Her 233 total career points also ranks 12th in Division I and fifth in UR program records, while her 146 career goals puts her 15th in the nation and 9th in program history. Geiersbach is also 5th in Richmond program history with 87 career assists.
"It is great to see Sam getting this recognition," said head coach Allison Kwolek. "She is an incredible player for us and has worked really hard to become the dynamic player that she is."
Geiersbach has tallied a goal in each of the Spiders (3-1) four games, including a hat trick in the squad's season opening victory over Radford. She also dished out five assists in the win.
In the shortened 2019 season, Geierbach had 22 goals and 23 assists as she helped the Spiders to a program best 7-0 start. All seven games saw Geierbach tally at least two goals and an assist, including scoring five goals and dishing out five assists against ODU in a 22-9 victory before the season was ended.
The Spiders close out their non-conference schedule on Sunday with an 11 a.m. match-up at Old Dominion. Fans can watch the game on ESPN+.
