Frank Paces Women’s Lacrosse with Four Goals in Win at GW

WASHINGTON, DC – University of Richmond sophomore Lindsey Frank (Gansevoort, N.Y.) scored four goals Friday in the women's lacrosse 15-14 victory over George Washington at GW Lacrosse Field. Richmond moves to 5-1 on the season and collects its first Atlantic 10 win since the 2019 season.
Nicole Concannon (Syosset, N.Y.) got the Spiders offense started on a 4-0 run, scoring her first of two goals 55 seconds into the game. Arden Tierney (Port Washington, N.Y.) fed Frank for her first goal of the day while Ali Susskind (Bay Shore, N.Y.) tallied an unassisted goal. Tierney then collected the assist on Concannon's second goal.
Goalkeeper Megan Gianforte (Brielle, N.J.) collected her 600th career save at 26:30 mark on a GW free position attempt. Gianforte added six more stops to move to 606 total career goals, putting her second in the nation among active goalies.
GW tallied an unassisted goal, but Richmond answered with a man-down goal by Tierney, assisted by Concannon at the 15:39 mark.
The Colonials then went on a 3-0 run to get within one at 5-4. Richmond picked up the next two goals, one by Kendall Duffy (Sinking Spring, Pa.) and the first of two goals by Marina Miller (Wexford, Pa.) to move to 7-4. GW scored the last two goals of the half to head into the locker room down 7-6.
Evelyn Roberts (Memphis, Tenn.) scored the first goal of the second half for the Spiders at 29:22, off a pass from Concannon, to push Richmond's lead to 8-6.
GW answered with back-to-back goals to tie the game at 8, at the 26:14 mark.
Richmond roared back to fire off five-straight goals, including three from Frank, one each from Tierney and Miller to push the score out to 13-8 at the 18:36 mark.
GW tallied two more goals to get within 13-10. Freshman Marymargaret Quinn (Alexandria, Va.) scored her third goal of the season with an assist from Sarah Roycroft (Westwood, Mass.), before Rachel Ziemba (Cazenovia, N.Y.) tallied her fifth goal of the season on a pass from Miller.
GW's offense heated up late, scoring the final four goals of the contest, but Richmond was able to hold onto to a slim one goal lead for the victory.
Richmond held the advantage in shots (35-32), shots on goal (28-21) and draw controls (16-10). GW was awarded more free position shots (13-2) and committed more turnovers (11-7).
