Ryan Lanchbury Named To The Tewaaraton Award Watch List
04/02/2021 | Men's Lacrosse
RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond senior attack Ryan Lanchbury (Burlington, Ontario) has been a midseason addition to the prestigious Tewaaraton Award Watch List, which annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.
Lanchbury becomes the second Spider this season along with goalie Jack Rusbuldt (Richmond, Va.) to be named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List. It is the first time in program history the Spiders have had two members on the watch list in the same season. This year also marks the second-straight year Lanchbury has been on the list, and the first time a Spider has been on the list in back-to-back years.
Lanchbury is the fifth different Spider in the eight-year history of the Richmond men's lacrosse program to be named to the watch list. He joins the likes of Rusbuldt (2020), Teddy Hatfield (2019), Benny Pugh (2017) and Mitch Goldberg (2016).
Lanchbury leads the Spiders and the Southern Conference in scoring with 39 points in seven games this year. He ranks 10th in the nation in points per game at 5.57. He has scored 16 goals this year while dishing out 23 assists. He leads the SoCon and ranks fifth in the nation with 3.29 assists per game.
Lanchbury has been on a roll lately, scoring 13 goals in the past four games while dishing out 30 assists in the month of March. He has scored a point in 37-straight games, the 12th longest streak in the nation. During that streak he has scored 164 points – averaging 4.4 points per game. Lanchbury ranks second all-time in Richmond scoring history in points (184), goals (110) and assists (74).
The lists include the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlight the early contenders for the Tewaaraton Award. 2020 marks the 20th anniversary of the Award. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
