No. 12 Women’s Lacrosse Closes Season Perfect in A-10, Ziemba Breaks Program Record

RICHMOND, Va. – No. 12 University of Richmond women's lacrosse team remained unbeaten in Atlantic 10 action (6-0) with a 18-15 win against George Mason Sunday afternoon to finish 10-1 in the regular season.
Senior Rachel Ziemba (Cazenovia, N.Y.) broke the single-game program record with eight assists, including seven coming in the first half. Ziemba broke Emily Doyle's 2012 record set against Temple.
Sophomore Lindsey Frank (Gansevoort, N.Y.) scored five goals, matching a career-high, and picked up a team-high eight draw controls. Graduate Madison Ostrick (Medford, N.Y.) scored all four of her goals in the first half and collected three draw controls.
Sophomore Arden Tierney (Port Washington, N.Y.) tallied two goals, two assists and two draw controls while senior Reagan Williams (Greenland, N.H.) and Kendall Duffy (Sinking Spring, Pa.) both chipped in two goals. Duffy also had two caused turnovers and a ground ball.
The Spiders opened the game with a five-goal run, two each by Ostrick and Frank, with Tierney tallying the other, before wrapping up the half on a four-goal run to take a 12-6 lead into the break. Richmond had a strong first 30 minutes, holding the advantage in draws (12-7), ground balls (10-3), shots (18-12) and shots on goal (16-9).
Senior Nicole Concannon (Syosset, N.Y.) got the Spider offense going to open the second half, as Frank added two goals. Evelyn Roberts (Memphis, Tenn.) also chipped in a goal while Williams' two goals put Richmond up 18-8 at the 15:04 mark.
Mason scored seven-straight goals to close out the game, but still came up short.
All four Spider goalkeepers saw action against the Mason offense. Starter Megan Gianforte (Brielle, N.J.) tallied four saves and allowed eight goals to collect the win. Freshman Nicole Burney (Yardley, Pa.) collected two saves and allowed one goal, while sophomore Emilie Bloyer (Eden Prairie, Minn.) tallied two saves and allowed three goals. Sophomore Daniela Stelcer (Port Washington, N.Y.) allowed three goals.
Richmond, with a 6-0 record in Atlantic 10 South Division action, secured a spot in the 2021 Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Championship, which is set for April 30 and May 1. They await to hear the final seeding and host site.
