Women’s Tennis Announces Spring 2022 Schedule

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond women's tennis program has announced its spring 2022 slate, which is highlighted by four home matches. One of those home matches will take place at the Country Club of Virginia while the remaining three will be hosted at the Westhampton Tennis Complex on Richmond's campus.
"The toughness of this schedule reflects our attitude about our strength and desire to be challenged," said head coach Mark Wesselink. "This is an experienced team coming off a strong showing last year. We're ready to step up and test ourselves against the best."
The spring season begins with a trip to Charlottesville Jan. 21 to face Virginia, followed by a matchup against Elon at VCU Jan. 28. After that, Richmond plays its first home match when the Spiders host Navy at the Country Club of Virginia Jan. 29.
The Spiders spend the entire month of February on the road, starting off at Liberty Feb. 6. On Feb. 11, Richmond will compete against Towson at Mary Washington. The Spiders return to VCU Feb. 17, this time to face the rivaled Rams, before spending the weekend in North Carolina for matches at Davidson Feb. 19 and UNC Greensboro Feb. 20.
Richmond will see its first competition at Westhampton Tennis Complex when the Spiders host Maryland March 5. Then the Spiders will spend three days at the College of Charleston to face Campbell March 8, Samford March 9, and Charleston March 11.
After a short break, the Spiders return to action March 25 to host Atlantic 10 foe George Mason before traveling to George Washington March 26. Richmond then heads to Saint Joseph's April 1 and Rhode Island April 2 before hosting its last home match of the season on April 6 against Longwood. The regular season wraps up at William & Mary April 22.
The 2022 A-10 Championships take place April 27-30 in Orlando, Fla. NCAA Regionals will be May 6-8 followed by the NCAA Championships May 19-28 in Champaign, Ill.
