Swimming & Diving Passed by Villanova Friday

Villanova, Pa. — The University of Richmond swimming and diving team fell to Villanova Friday, 161-120. Full results can be found here.
The Spiders took the first four places in the 200 IM, with Maggie Purcell (Southampton, N.Y), touching first at 2:06.73, Jenna Miller (Annapolis, Md.) followed with a 2:12.84, Mattie Williams (Lake George, N.Y.) a 2:12.97 and Christina Levins (Moorestown, N.J.) rounded out the Spiders with a 2:15.43.
Purcell hit the wall at 1:53.62 for second in the 200 freestyle, while also taking second in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:21.23 clocking. She was also a member of the Spiders' 200 medley relay that included Katelyn Pennell (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Abby Fuller (Charlottesville, Va.), and Lauren Medlin (Cary, N.C.) who clocked a 1:46.30 for second place.
Fuller was the top finisher in the 50 free with a time of 23.78 and also took first as a member of the Spiders' 400 free relay that finished with a 3:31.59 alongside Claire O'Shaughnessy (Laurel, Md.), Lucy Yeomans (Athens, Ga.), and Medlin. Behind the lead relay, Pennell. Alexa Connors (Kingston, Mass.), Carstyn Klosterman, (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and Grace Palfreyman (Bridgewater, N.J.) took second with a 3:38.87.
Connors finished second in the 500 free with a 5:08.43 as well as in the 1,000 with a 10:29.46, while Pennell also added second place finishes in the 100 and 200 backstroke with times of 58.29 and 2:06.83, respectively.
Emma Yeakley (Cornelius, N.C.) finished first in the 3m dive with a 216.97 and finished second in the 1m with a 210.44.
The Spiders are back in the water tomorrow at La Salle. Meet time is set for 11 a.m.
