Swimming and Diving Defeats La Salle, Fairfield Saturday

Philadelphia— The University of Richmond Spiders swimming and diving program picked up two wins in a double dual against La Salle and Fairfield Saturday at La Salle University's Kirk Pool. The Spiders won seven events en route to downing La Salle 157-138, and Fairfield 204-94. Full results can be found here.
Richmond won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.36 behind the efforts of Katelyn Pennell (Eden Prairie, Minn.), Sara Greene (Tega Kay, S.C.), Abby Fuller (Charlottesville, Va.) and Lauren Medlin (Cary, N.C.). The Spiders also picked up third in the event after Mattie Williams (Lake George, N.Y.), Christina Levins (Moorestown, N.J.), Claire O'Shaughnessy (Laurel, Md.) and Lucy Yeomans (Athens, Ga.) clocked a 1:50.83.
Fuller took the top spot in the 100 free, touching at 58.01, and finished in the runner-up spot in the 100 fly with a 58.87.
The Spiders went 1-2 in the 1,000-yard free with Alexa Connors (Kingston, Mass.) (10:38.61) and Grace Palfreyman (Bridgewater, N.J) (10:51.17). Meanwhile, O'Shaughnessy went on to finish second in the 200 free with a 1:57.84 clocking, while Yeomans followed close behind for third with a time of 1:58.81.
Pennell took second in the 100 back with a time of 59.37 and Carstyn Klosterman (Winston-Salem, N.C.) clocked a 59.94 for third. Klosterman also took home bronze in the 200 back with a 2:08.85 clocking.
Maggie Purcell (Southampton, N.Y.) (1:06.50), and Greene (1:07.88) took the first two spots in the 100 breast, as did Medlin (24.36) and Purcell (24.89) in the 50 free. Purcell also took home first in the 200 breast (2:24.41) while Levins followed in second with a (2:29.22).
On the 1-meter board, Emma Yeakley (Cornelius, N.C.) took third with a score of 206.70.
Connors and O'Shaughnessy went 1-3 in the 500 free with times of 5:07.64 and 5:11.58, respectively.
Jenna Miller (Annapolis, Md.) clocked a 2:13.75 for second in the 200 IM.
Richmond finished first and second in the 400 free relay with Fuller, Connors, Yeomans and Pennell crossing first at 3:34.75 and the squad of Purcell, Medlin, O'Shaughnessy and Palfreyman (3:35.17) followed for second.
The Spiders are back home at the Robins Center Natatorium on Jan. 28 when the team takes on James Madison.
